Back pain

I’m sure it is completely normal and I am almost entirely convinced it is because I am sleeping on my back but wow the back pain. It is only on my left side and located just about/below my bra. It is fine for the most part during the day but laying down, getting out of bed, and moving just right causes a terrible pain like I’ve thrown my back out. Just verifying this is normal and curious what you recommend to help lessen the pain. Thank you so much!

  • Hmmmm.  You’ve stumped me. :) I agree with you it is most likely related to your recent surgery but not a common complaint. I’m guessing you’ve aggravated something by overuse while trying to protect your chest. For example, not using your pecs so relying more on lats and shoulder blade stabilizers  (like traps, rhomboids, etc). IF your PS approves NSAIDS like ibuprofen may be helpful.

    Good luck,

    MR

Dr. Roughton thank you for the feedback. I had not heard anyone else complain about it so I wasn’t sure if it was normal. All the other symptoms I’ve had I’ve read are common and normal. He did approve ibuprofen so I will try that.

Rachael I had this same pain! It was actually worse than my breast pain! Mine was more in my right lower shoulder blade and felt like a pinched nerve. Always worse when sleeping. I would stack pillows on my lap and lean forward into them to rest and it would relax at thy point. It was only until 2-3dpo so it didn’t last long!

  • Yes! Sounds like the same thing I have. Today was the first day it wasn’t brutal when I woke up and I am just over 4WPO. It is still sore there but not breath catching so far today.

  • The back pain after surgery was unreal.  By far the worst part.

Rachael no doubt.  It’s not something you hear plastic surgeons say much about but when you talk to actual augmentation patients you hear it quite a bit!

  • Yes my back hurt worse than the breast pain at one point. I'm 2DPO and I felt ok the day of surgery, but yesterday and today my pain started kicking in after all the good meds from surgery wore off.

PRIS0120 I noticed it is worse if I have been sitting or laying down for any longer than 10-15 minutes. I was tired and slept a lot the first 3 days but in between try and get up to stretch and walk a bit.

  • I had so much back pain for days after surgery too! I had no breast pain, just tightness and the back pain was by far the worst part of recovery

Ashley Lynn I decided to hug a pillow tight and try rolling on to my sides for a few minutes a couple times last night. My back hurt less today when I woke up! Could not be more excited for that pain to go away.

Ashley Lynn did your back pain go away? If so, how long did it take? Currently experiencing the same issue. It keeps me up all night.

    • Haftyjill Oh man, you've been in pain for a while. I don't quite remember now that I'm 5MPO but it didn't last that long for me. Maybe 2 weeks if even that long. I had the 24 Hour Recovery method though, which is typically a more gentler method - I was cleared for dull activity at 3 weeks. Have you tried incorporating a stretching routine in during the morning and before you go to sleep?

Haftyjill yes! It took me until about 6WPO. It was torture but definitely related to how I was sleeping! Once I started sleeping flat on my back as well as on my sides the pain improved drastically.
