Implant moves slightly into armpit when laying down. Normal ?

Hey all,

I'm officially 6 months PO and have my check up friday.  I recently noticed that when I lay on my back my left implant slides slightly into my armpit ( not completely) my right one doesnt but the pocket was made way smaller on that side due to a deformity I had before.  Is this normal or something I should be worried about? I plan to show my PS Friday anyway because I do experience some pain sometimes in that boob.

  • It is common and it's called lateral displacement. If you are okay with it, you don't NEED to do anything about it. I had it and was not okay with (nor was my PS) so I had a revision done at 6 mpo. I had very little down time and zero pain with the revision. Definitely mention it to your PS.

Jennifer Renee thank you ! If you dont mind what consitied in your revision ? Was it just closing the pocket alittle more/ changing the implant ? Did you have to pay for a whole other surgery ?

    • Ashley N he went through the original incision, pulled out the implant, stitched up the pocket, and put the implant back in. He covered 100% of the cost of the revision but I don't think that's typical. Usually the anesthesiologist fee has to be paid.

  • I also have this issue. It definitely bothers me because it constantly feels like it in my armpit. My surgeon wants me to wait till I'm a full year and completely healed and then if it's still bothering me, he will fix it.

From my guess of talking to other people who had revisions with my surgeon, I'll have to pay for my anesthesia fees.
