Beginning of Capsular Contracture

I am 3.5 month post op and everything has been going great until about 2 weeks ago when I woke up with some soreness/pulling on the breast that has healed the easiest of the two in my recovery. I thought I had just slept on it wrong but a couple days later noticed it was a bit firmer than the other. I saw my surgeon last week and he said it is the very early stages of capsular contracture and he having me wear my band again, take 3x the vitamin e, and aggressive massage in hopes I can reverse it on my own. I am religiously doing all the above but still feeling firmness/pulling. Just looking for maybe more tips/tricks from anyone who has been through this or encouraging words!!! I felt so confident in my bodies ability to heal and am definitely pretty stressed out!

My PS put me on Singulair for 3 months post op... Some studies have shown that it's been proven to reduce the risk of getting CC. Maybe you can discuss this option with your PS and see if it will help? Good luck!

Alicia my PS said it also reduces the risk of ALCL cancer because the cancer is caused from inflammation aggravating things, and the Singulair reduces that specific type of tissue inflammation. I don’t think he routinely puts people on it, I just happen to be on it for my asthma for my whole life

Cheryl I think I was supposed to take one each once a day. That’s what I’ve been doing anyway.

  • I got into an accident two weeks post op and was hit in the chest with an airbag. My ps put me on singulair, Vitamin E, and had me start using organic liquid stevia from trader Joe's. Pure stevia has been showing promising results in removing biofilms, which is what causes capsular contracture.

  • I'm 3.5 months post op too. They were looking awesome but two weeks ago I noticed that my left breast started to look as though it had lifted as it wasn't sitting over the crease anymore. it's not firm and it doesn't hurt.. going to see my PS next week but devastated... I hope it can be reversed without surgery. Does this look similar to what you noticed? I really hope it's not contracture and can just be pulled down or something...

T Michelle I felt mine first then a couple days later I noticed it was sitting a little higher. Good luck with your doctors visit. I suggest being as proactive as possible! I have a friend who has had mild capsular contracture since the beginning. She followed all her surgeons protocol and lots of massage and it never got worse so there is hope!
