Mommy Makeover Belly Button Question.

**Edited: I uploaded some additional photos.****

Hi guys! 10 Days Post Op. I need some encouragement. My new belly button is completely flat. I'm worried it will heal and I'll have like no belly button or just a circular scar!

I would love to see before and after pics of your mommy makeover Belly Button!

**Update** My surgeon said this is my old belly button.  And it didn't have alot of shape to start with. And taking away all the loose skin it became very flat. He said this was not typical and can to a revision on it in a year and a half, but he's not sure how much further it will go in.  I didn't have a hernia. But had Diastasis Recti 2 fingers apart and my belly button never was the same after 3 kids. It didn't feel like it went back in all the way either. Yes I was an innie to start with!

I do feel a bit better knowing it wasn't just botched and this is just how my belly button is. I will continue to post photos as I heal! Hoping as swelling goes down it will appear more innie!

  • Hmmmm. It does look flat. Here’s a pic of mine. Have you mentioned it to your surgeon?

    • Carolina Marie your belly button looks really good! Was it stitched like this while healing or no? And yes, my surgeon said he couldn't get it to go in any further than that. But I'm really concerned im 11 days post op now.

Rainbowgirl it looked exactly like it does now immediately after surgery. There were some scabs on the inside and I just used a qtip with hydrogen peroxide to clean it out really well.

  • I would be concerned too.

I dont have a pic of my belly button, but I didn't have a circle of sutures like that.  I had folds of sutures in curved patterns to mimic the folds of an innie belly button. Post op, my belly button was definitely indented, but I couldn't really see it for the first few weeks because it was black with scabs.  The scabs eventually fell off and my belly button now looks like a normal belly button.  It is a little smaller and more circualr than I would like, but no one can tell its not real.

I told my PS before the surgery that I wanted a good belly button and he said he spends an hour on the belly button alone but there are some PS's who spend only a few minutes.  My TT portion was about 3hours long and my BA was 1 hour.  I was in surgery about 4 hours total.

    You should call your PS.

    I've edited to add pics.

I am 7wpo tomorrow.  Sutures were removed at 6dpo.  Scabs fell out the first 2-4weeks.  Now the skin is red and stiff, but my PS said that is normal and will go away slowly. It was always indented and it always had folds.  I am really worried for you, actually, but don't freak out until you talk to your PS.

    • Panda77 your belly button looks incredible! Yea, it was littlest the first thing I said when I woke up from surgery and saw it. He said he couldn't make it go in any further than that. He did an incredible job on my implants and even my TT incision is super thin. But I'm really concerned about my belly button. I saw his before and after pics of patients and nothing really seemed fake about their belly buttons so it wasn't a concern before.

      Rainbowgirl

Hmm, I guess you need to talk to him and ask him why he couldn't make it go in farther? Or if making an outie was an option?  Why did he settle on a flat coin appearance?  He may have good reasons that I have no clue about.

    • Panda77 exactly! Looks like a quarter stitched to me. He said it looks fine and if he made it indent further he was going to risk blood supply. I'm hoping to talk to him more about this and a possible revision after it heals. It just doesn't look normal.

    • Rainbowgirl your belly button just looks so Good! I wanted to update you, he said my belly button didn't have much shape to start with and it really flattened out as he removed the loose skin. He said I still have alot of healing to do. But it will look pretty much like this. I added photos! But he can revise in a year an a half if I want.

  • Honestly I would be a little concerned aswell. My belly button looked like a little slit at first but definitely had an indent. It was hard to tell at first because of the scabbing but it didn't have the circular stitching that your does. I would definitely chat with your surgeon about a revision.

I couldn't find any good close up pics but the first pic is about a week post op, second is now, 7 months PO. I'm pretty happy with my belly button now.

Rainbowgirl Let us know how it goes! Do you have any more pictures? It almost looks like he didn't use your original bellybutton and just regular skin. Did you have an "outie" belly button before hand?

    • ZombieWalk these were great questions and I asked him! He used my original belly button and it didn't have much shape when he started with. I was an innie before, but my belly button was not the same after 3 kids. But he said he will keep an eye on it, as this is a not typical and I can have it revised in a year and a half if I want.

Rainbowgirl ohh well that's great that he's willing to do a revision if your not happy in a year and a half! I also have to wait untill a year to have a revision in my right boob. I think the waiting is the worst part but atlwast your surgeon is willing to work with you 😊

    • ZombieWalk thank you! He said he could TRY to make it go in more. So I'm not sure how much could be done. It's so long from now.  I'm sorry you also have to get a revision! Waiting is the worse part. Like we wait so long to get our bodies back and then you have to wait even longer!

    • GreyRabbit he said I didn't have much shape to my belly button to start with. That that's not normally typical that it flattened out the way it did. But he will keep an eye on it as it heals and if I want I can have it revised in a year and a half
