Underwire Bra after BA

Hey! So I just had my BA Monday and today was my 1dpo appointment. They immediately had me in an underwire bra but it is so uncomfortable for my incisions. Any tips on how to make it not so uncomfortable? It could be my body swelling and just pushing against the Bra but I’ve been thinking of I have to buy a larger band for now until the swelling goes down.

All PSs are different. Mine asked me not to wear underwire bras ever again. Let's see what others have to share...

  • Maybe try putting some gauze between your incisions and the bra. Im sure other companies sell them, but VS sells bras that have padding or gel surrounding the under wire so that you dont even feel it.

  • I would call your PS and ask him if you could switch to a sports bra.  At my 5 dpo, my surgical bra was causing me to break out in an itchy and uncomfortable rash, my PS said I didn't need to wear a bra at all if I didn't want to.

  • I’ve been in underwire bra since 2dpo due to my old implant bottoming out. I had a revision. I was putting gauze between the wire and the incision. It is really annoying but if your doctor recommended it, stick with it!!!

I also found the tee shirt bra from Victoria’s Secret to be the most comfortable for it. I had multiple sizes at first. Sometimes I would switch sizes throughout the day due to swelling.

    • Court14 thank you! During the day I definitely will wear the underwire bra and wear something in between the bra and my incisions. For sleeping I had on a tighter sports bra since it was the only comfortable way to handle it. I’ll try again today and see how it goes! Thank you for your reply πŸ’•

  • I still hate underwire at 9 weeks and I always wear scar therapy on my scars. It really helps with ANY bra friction on your incision.
